After I consider bake purchase recipes I consider homemade desserts created using the freshest ingredients making mostly by my grandmother. They are recipes that I have loved and valued through the years simply because they were my grandmother’s original recipes from her personal collection.

Remember whenever your grandmother accustomed to make her famous desserts for potluck but for the church annual bake purchase? How about recipes she designed for club conferences so when the minister came over for Sunday dinner. Remember individuals recipes?

Bake sales recipes were once big within the South and were generally passed lower in one generation to another. However , it is hard to encounter this type of collection.

After I would be a youthful girl, I recall climbing in the kitchen area chair and watching my grandmother come up with her famous desserts. She measured ingredients, sifted ingredients and stirred them altogether inside a large bowl. At that time, I did not know precisely what she was mixing together and Never imagined that certain day these recipes would participate a treasured collection that might be enjoyed for many years.

These recipes weren’t just laying throughout the house. And a number of these recipes weren’t even written lower, but were verbally exchanged therefore if the dog owner died, it was almost unattainable these great recipes. Well, I suppose I had been one of the lucky ones. Before my grandmother died, she gave a few of her most treasured recipes to my mother who eventually shared all of them with my older sister and that i.

Today I will reveal to you a couple of my grandmother’s favorite recipes that they used to create her church bake purchase.

Cinnamon Pound Cake

2 sticks margarine, softened

2 c. sugar

3 eggs

1 teaspoon. baking powder

2 c. flour

1/2 pt. sour cream

1 teaspoon. Vanilla flavoring

1/2 c. pecans, chopped

1 teaspoon. cinnamon

4 tablespoons of. brown sugar

Inside a large bowl, cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs, individually, beating well after each addition. Add baking powder, flour, sour cream and vanilla. Mix well. Put half the batter inside a greased and floured tube pan. In a tiny bowl, mix pecans, cinnamon and brown sugar together. Sprinkle cinnamon mixture over batter adding remaining batter. Bake at 325 levels for around 55 to 65 minutes.

Recipe Note: This recipe is extremely old, yet very scrumptious. It fills your kitchen having a wonderful aroma of cinnamon and brown sugar. This recipe revives such fond recollections of my grandmother. Absolutely scrumptious. You have to check it out!

Southern Apple Torte

1 cup margarine

2/3 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

2 cups flour

1 egg yolk

Cream margarine and sugar, add vanilla and egg yolk. Merge flour mix well. Spread dough into bottom minimizing sides of the 9 X 13-inch pan. Baked at 350 levels until light brown.

In Separate Bowl:

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

1/2 cup sugar

2 (8-ounce) pkg. cream cheese, softened

Combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and eggs. Mix Well. Pour into baked crust.


two to three medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced

2/3 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Place apples over cream cheese layer. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over cream cheese mixture. Baked at 350 levels for 30 to 35 minutes. Awesome. Substitution: 1 can cake apples.

Recipe Note: This is among my personal favorite desserts to create. This can be a great dessert that’s very good also it goes well for just about any occasion.
